Miss Sunrise Side Gears up for ‘Mock Rock’ Competition to Benefit Scholarship Program

The Miss Sunrise Side Scholarship Program is gearing up for their ‘Mock Rock’ event this weekend. The scholarship program will have different categories for attendees to enjoy including a lip sync competition, as well as a singing competition.

Executive Director, Ann Kramer said it’s all about interacting with the community.

“It gives the opportunity for the community to come together and also understand our program. It’s also a family fun night showing that sometimes we just get out in the community to let our hair down and see the talent that we have in our community,” Kramer explained.

Kramer said the program helps girls not only with scholarships, but with their future careers too.

“Not only are they earning scholarship money for their college education, but it’s also giving them life skills, such as learning to interview, learning to speak in front of crowds, and being able to step up and step out of their comfort zone and be prepared. We all know that in the work world that’s what you will have to do. You will have to interview for a position. You will have to be able to communicate and speak one on one with individuals. This is not only an opportunity to gain all of those skills but also be in front and interact with your community,” Kramer said.

Both Miss Sunrise Side, and Miss Sunrise Side Outstanding Teen will be performing that night and showcase their talent that they will be performing at Miss Michigan in June.

The fundraiser event will be held this Saturday April 22nd at 7 pm at Alcona High School.
