Minor Changes Coming To This Summer’s Alpena Art Walk

Alpena- Next Friday, local art galleries and studios will open their doors after hours to welcome the community.

It’s the second year of the Alpena Art Walk which takes place one Friday a month throughout the summer. In addition to galleries being open later, musicians and street performers will perform inside and outside of the venues.

The biggest change coming to this year’s art walk has to deal with a stamp-prize giveaway. Folks could try to visit all of the venues within the three hour window. They would be entered to win a prize once they received a stamp from all participating galleries.

“Some of the feedback we received from that encouraged people to rush through and not really check out all of the art work,” said Alpena Downtown Development Director Anne Gentry.

Now, all participating galleries will offer different art-related activities, giveaways, and some will offer hors d’oeuvres. Alpena’s Art Walks will take place on May 25, June 29, July 27, and August 31 in 2018. The hours for each Art Walk event is from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. You can find which galleries will be participating below.
