Mild Midweek; Rainy Thursday

High temperatures today warmed into the mid-80s in Alpena, though temperatures were a touch cooler at the shoreline. A light breeze out of the southeast tomorrow afternoon will create a similar scenario, most places will warm into the lower 80s while shoreline areas will have temperatures limited to the upper 70s.

Earlier today, a few scattered showers developed in the afternoon mainly south of Alpena. I am expecting a lower chance of rain tomorrow, so the afternoon should remain generally dry and mild.

Tonight’s low temperatures will cool down to the mid-50s. By tomorrow, afternoon, temperatures will warm up to 81 degrees in Alpena with partly cloudy skies. A light breeze out of the southeast will give cooler temperatures to areas closest to Lake Huron.

Dry weather will remain over the area for the next two days. Then, a cold front dropping in from western Canada will provide some widespread periods of rain and a risk of thunderstorms on Thursday. A chance of showers will linger into Friday morning, then drier weather will return to the area late Friday and Saturday.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, afternoon temperatures will warm into the lower 80s under partly cloudy skies. Moisture will increase on Thursday, and an incoming cold front will spread rain and a possibility of thunderstorms into the area on Thursday. Temperatures will cool slightly, a high of 78 degrees is forecast on Thursday.
