Michigan set to resume administering Johnson & Johnson vaccine

LANSING, Mich.  –  The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services recommends vaccine providers resume the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

The vaccine suspension came after reports of six cases of a rare and severe type of blood clot. Chief Medical Executive and Chief Deputy Director for Health and Human Services Dr. Joneigh Khaldun said the evidence shows that the vaccine is effective.

7 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine have been administered in the U.S. with only 15 cases of the blood clotting syndrome confirmed.
