Michigan legislators voice support for amicus brief

WASHINGTON D.C. — Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed an amicus brief to the U.S Supreme Court, urging them to reverse the election results in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Wisconsin.

Representing Michigan in the U.S House of Representatives, Jack Bergman (R) of District 1, Bill Huizenga (R) of District 2, John Moolenaar (R) of District 4, and Tim Walberg (R) of District 7 all signed the brief in support of overturning the outcome, which sees former Vice President Joe Biden winning the entirety of Michigan’s electoral votes.

Both Paul Mitchell (R) of District 10 and Fred Upton (R) of District 6 have publicly spoken out against overturning the election.

Texas AG Paxton’s brief mentions two specific instances of election mishandlings in Michigan. The document states that Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson illegally permitted absentee ballots online, and that Wayne County election officials disregarded statutory signature verification requirements. Paxton’s brief can be accessed here.

On Monday, Dec. 14 the Electoral College will meet to officially decide the winner of the 2020 Presidential Election.
