Michigan business owners tax payments postponed

ALPENA, Mich – In support of small businesses the Michigan Department of Treasury issued a notice last week providing business taxpayers additional time to pay their sales, use and withholding taxes.

As business owners struggle during this pandemic, State Treasurer Rachel Eubanks said moving the deadline will help taxpayers navigate their way through this crisis.

Filers expected to make payments for March, April, or May including quarterly filings, can postpone payments until June 20.

Taxpayers are encouraged to file returns and pay taxes owed on the original due date if able to do so.

Discounts will still be applied for payments received on time however this waiver does not apply to accelerated sales, use or withholding filers.
