Messy, snowy late Tuesday

Mainly cloudy skies will give way to some short-lived overnight clearing. Cloud cover will then increase early Tuesday. A storm system moving out of Colorado, which is not yet particularly well-developed, will move toward the northeast and impact Northeast Michigan beginning late in the day Tuesday.

Snow will begin Tuesday between 5 and 8 p.m. Snow will continue throughout much of the evening and nighttime hours. A rain/snow mix will be possible late at night in Iosco County and for places near the Lake Huron shoreline. Further away from the Lake Huron shoreline, this will stay mainly as snow throughout Tuesday night. Then some breaks of dry weather are expected Wednesday morning-midday. A second round of moisture will move in Wednesday afternoon/evening, bringing some rain.

Future Snowfall through Wednesday AM shows 1-3 inches could accumulate in Oscoda County, Ogemaw county, western sections of Alcona County and western sections of Iosco County. Elsewhere, less than 1 inch of snow is expected Tuesday afternoon through predawn Wednesday.

Tuesday: Cloudy through midday, then snow arrives late-day. Predawn temperatures will become quite cold, dropping to 20 degrees. Late-morning temperatures will rise to the lower 30s. Afternoon highs will be near 38 degrees. Evening temperatures will dip only slightly, to the middle 30s.

Wednesday: Cloudy morning-midday, then rain in the afternoon and evening. Early-morning temperatures will be in the middle 30s. Afternoon highs will climb to about 44 degrees. Evening temperatures will be in the lower 40s.

Thursday: Thanksgiving day is looking dry and warmer. Temperatures will begin in the upper 30s predawn. Afternoon highs will reach close to 49 degrees. Evening temperatures will be in the middle/lower 40s.
