Locals Honor Alpena Fallen Police Officers During National Police Week

A candlelight vigil Sunday for law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty drew thousands of observers to the National Mall in Washington, D.C. but for some, fallen officers hit home right here in Alpena.

Remembering her son, Bryon Egelski, who was killed in 1994 in a car accident while working as a MSP Trooper, Gloria Egelski traveled to the MSP Academy in Lansing for this year’s memorial. In December of 1974, MSP Alpena Post lost Trooper Larry Forreider to a tragic accident. Forreider’s widow traveled to Lansing as well.
