Local veterinarian nominated for prestigious national award

ALPENA, Mich –A local veterinarian may be putting Alpena on the map as she’s been nominated for a prestigious award.

Danielle Knight owner of Switzer Veterinarian Clinic has been selected for the American Humane’s Hero Veterinarian award.

Only one of five finalists in the US are selected each year.

The selection process is based on heroes who dedicate their lives to making a difference in animals’ lives through outstanding service.

Dr. Knight has worked as a veterinarian for 17 years and shares with us her secret to success.

Dr. Knight is unsure who nominated her but they said she donates thousands of dollars in services and treats each pet like her own.

Knight shared that the winner will get to participate in a program on the Hallmark channel which she said is pretty exciting.
