Local students awarded scholarships

ALPENA, Mich. — The Community Foundation of Northeast Michigan and their affiliates awarded over 200 students scholarships for the 20–21 year.

Students within the nine-county service area, which includes Alpena, received over 400,000 dollars in scholarships.

Determinations were based on academics as well as student interests such as farming, a trade, arts, or healthcare.

According to the organization’s Executive Director, Patrick Heraghty, the quality of students made it challenging for the review board to make

determinations.

Heraghty added that the students were impressive beyond just academia and said they are proud of the students and thankful for the generosity of the

donors.

He also added that the community foundation was glad to play a part in the students receiving the funds.
