Local school board appoints Johns as trustee

ALPENA,Mich.— The Alpena Public Schools Board of Education appoints Keri Johns as the newest member to be added to the board. Johns will fill a vacated trustee position for the remainder of the year and has the option to run for election in November.

Keri Johns is a native of Alpena and graduated from Alpena High School and Alpena Community College. The wife and mother of two has years of experience as a registered nurse and working with long term care companies.

Johns is currently a clinical nursing instructor at ACC and has served as a substitute teacher at APS. Keri Johns says, “Getting the position was another way for her to give back to the community.”

In her new role, Johns will continue to advocate for students, ensure district policies and keep the community informed on school updates. If she is elected in November, Johns will serve a four year term.
