Local organization receives complaints about stolen yard signs

ALPENA, Mich.— Members of the Alpena County Democratic Party have received multiple complaints of political yard signs being stolen specifically yard signs for Presidential Candidate Joe Biden.

Yard signs have reportedly been taken from private property and in some cases even destroyed. Residents are encouraged to bring in displays closer to their home and away from the curb at night.

If a sign is stolen or damaged, residents should contact local law enforcement. Destruction and theft of yard signs is considered a misdemeanor in Michigan under the Michigan election law.

Violators can be fined or jailed.
