Local ophthalmologist reminds parents about eye health
ALPENA, Mich— As the first day of school is approaching, students will use more technology devices for virtual learning. Dr. Robert Currier an ophthalmologist at Northern Eye is reminding parents to get their children’s eyes checked as early as a newborn.
Early detection also notifies parents of any eye complications. Children can develop glaucoma, cataracts and even tumors.
Dr. Currier recommends that parents schedule an appointment for their child annually and ensure that they wear eye protective gear if the child participates in sports.
Parents should also monitor screen time and limit the use of computers when possible.
