Local Health Department begins vaccination process
ALPENA, Mich. — District Health Department No. 4 released a statement on Dec. 18 that they have begun their vaccination process.
The process starts with the DHD4 vaccination staff and moves onto Emergency Medical Service personnel next week. The department says they have a limited amount of vaccines in their first shipment, so their main focus involves Medical First Responders, EMS workers, and the vaccination staff. These groups make up Phase 1A.
When more vaccines arrive, the department will start to vaccinate essential workers, including those in education sectors, non-hospital and non-public health laboratories and mortuaries- or Phase 1B.
In Phase 1C, people with underlying medical conditions which put them at high risk will be vaccinated as well as seniors over 65. Phase 2 looks to mass vaccinate all adults.
