Local health center opens COVID-19 testing site to patients

ROGERS CITY, Mich.—More COVID–19 testing sites continue to expand in Northeast Michigan counties with the latest addition in Presque Isle county. The Thunder Bay Community Health Center is now a hotspot for residents looking to be tested.

The testing site is open to the community, but by appointment only along with a referral from a healthcare provider. Patients are advised to stay in their vehicles until instructed by an onsite nurse to go into the tent.

The patient will then be screened for COVID–19 symptoms and given a nose swab test by the healthcare provider. So far there are only eleven positive COVID–19 cases in Presque Isle and patient test results take up to 48 to 72 hours to come in.

If a patient tests positive they will be notified by their healthcare physician the same day, followed up with by the District Health Department No. 4 and urged to self–quarantine.
