Local family put on surprise parade

ALPENA,Mich.— The Sim’s family wanted to surprise Roger Sims Sr. with a drive by parade. The Alpena veteran is a father, grandfather and recent widower who’s wife passed away of natural causes.

Since the recent events surrounding COVID–19, Sims has been isolated from family and friends and going through the grieving process alone. Family and friends decorated their cars, cooked homemade meals and crafted signs.

Sim’s daughter says, “The family wanted him to know he wasn’t alone and they will spend time together soon.” Roger Sims Sr. says, “This was a surprise of a lifetime.”
