The church hopes to raise $25,000 from the fundraiser which was provided with liquidated items from a closing business.

Alpena — A local church is making efforts to help children half way across the world experiencing a terrible crime.

Alpena Free Methodist Church will host “Bling for a Cause.” This sale, full of different items, raises funds for children down in Southeast Asia whose lives have been affected by human trafficking.

Richard George, pastor of Alpena Free Methodist says the church has partnered with an organization that protects victims and survivors.

“In Better Hands will do what they can to save kids that are at risk of being sold into slavery or even buying back children that have been sold into slavery,” said George. “They put them in great group homes with loving house parents… They are educated, fed, clothed, socialized…they really try to help these kids to grow and to have a real life.”

the fundraiser will be December 1st from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Shoppers will be able to choose from over 2–thousand styles of jewelry, and an assortment of other fashionable and household items.
