Local agencies receive an A on emergency drill
ALPENA, Mich— Alpena firefighters, city pandemics and Michigan State Police were dispatched to the Alpena County Regional Airport for a disaster response drill. Emergency units conducted Thursday’s exercise in preparation of an actual explosion at the airport.
The drill was a full scale operation consisting of live response training and patient transport to the hospital. So far, the airport has not had to execute this type of emergency plan.
Preparation for the drill has been in the works for three years. The planning stage is conducted in the first year, then a partial run through is carried out and finally the full scale operation is launched.
