Light snow tonight-Wednesday, then milder

Temperatures remained very cold today with a light breeze out of the north about 5-10 mph. High temperatures reached only the middle to upper teens across Northeast Michigan.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for all of Northeast Michigan, beginning at midnight tonight until 5 p.m. tomorrow. Light snow is likely and travel will be slower than usual during the morning commute.

Light snow currently extending from southwest Michigan through Minnesota and Wisconsin to North Dakota will travel through our area tonight-tomorrow, producing light snowfall amounts. Drier air will return to our area tomorrow night.


For Alpena, Presque Isle, Montmorency and northwestern Alcona county, 2-4 inches of snow are forecast beginning late tonight through tomorrow afternoon. Slightly higher snowfall amounts of 3-6 inches are expected in Iosco, Oscoda and Ogemaw counties.

Light snow will begin tonight as low temperatures drop to around 4 degrees. Snow will continue during the morning and afternoon as high temperatures reach around 23 degrees. Wind speeds will remain weak tonight and tomorrow, about 5 mph.

A gradual warming trend will start tomorrow as high temperatures get into the 20s. Skies will begin to clear late tomorrow and some sunshine will appear on Thursday with afternoon temperatures warming to the upper 20s. Highs on Friday will reach 30 degrees with mostly cloudy skies, then some light snow is likely on Saturday.
