Lawmakers announce Michigan Reconnect Program

LANSING, Mich. — Joined by lawmakers from both parties, Governor Whitmer announced today a plan to give free tuition to adults looking for postsecondary education.

Whitmer announced the launch of the $30 million Michigan Reconnect program, the largest effort in state history to ensure that residents 25 and older without college degrees will have an opportunity to earn one, tuition free.

Michigan Reconnect will pay the full cost of tuition for eligible adults who wish to pursue an associates degree or skills certificate at their in-district community college. Reconnect scholarships ae accepted by all Michigan community colleges.

If an individual attends an out-of-district community college, the program pays the in-district tuition while leaving the remainder for the student.

Those who wish to apply can do so at michigan.gov/reconnect.
