Ladyjacks clinch playoff birth for the first time since 2010

LIVONIA, Mich. — It’s not how you start that matters, it’s how you finish. The Alpena Community College softball team had one of the biggest turnarounds during the 2021 regular season.

The Ladyjacks got off to a very rough start, losing their first 13 games. On April 3, ACC picked up their first regular-season win, beating Schoolcraft 4-1. From there, the Ladyjacks looked like a completely different team, winning 16 of their last 21 games to close out the regular season.

Two of those wins came from Sunday as the Ladyjacks rolled past Schoolcraft College, winning 13-5 and 17-4 in a doubleheader. Not only ACC extends their winning streak to nine games, but they’ve also clinched an MCCAA playoff birth for the first time since 2010.

The Ladyjacks finish the regular season with a 17-18 (17-11 MCCAA) record. The MCCAA softball playoffs begin on May 13.
