Kalitta and Michigan Works offer apprenticeships

OSCODA, Mich. — With the other side of the pandemic in sight, this summer is a great time to stretch your wings. And a program at Kalitta Air might help you do just that.

With the pandemic affecting the labor supply, Kalitta Air at the Oscoda Airport is looking for more people to join its apprenticeship program. In two and a half years, apprentices gain on–the–job training with aircraft and electrical systems.

At the end, they become a certified airframe and powerplant technician.

“These aircraft technicians — I mean, we have engineers,  we have planners, we have all kinds of people who are in the aviation industry. [We have them] in support systems that these apprentices can move into once they’ve got their A&P licenses” said Maintenance Training Manager Angel Melendez.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED. Applications are currently open year-round.
