JOHANNESBURG, Mich. — For Johannesburg–Lewiston senior Sydney Townsend, basketball is in her blood. Ever since middle school, Townsend has always wanted to play college basketball. Fast forward to now, she achieved that goal. Recently, Townsend signed her National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Hope College.
“This really means a lot to me,” said Townsend. “I’ve always had this goal and it feels pretty great to accomplish it.”
Sydney had multiple schools to choose from. However, when she first visited Hope College, she fell in love with the school. “In the past, I’ve been to a few Division III games and I looked into Hope College,” said Townsend. “I saw how successful they were as a program. They’re a great team and the college looked great. So I got ahold of admissions, took a tour, and I fell in love with the college.”
In the classroom, Townsend plans to study Biology.
