ALPENA, Mich –Signs announcing store closing sales have dominated the front entrance to the place where many have shopped for everything over the years.
Different from many other malls, the J.C Penney in Alpena serves as the anchor for this location.
Some of the local residents are feeling disappointment and say they do not want to see the store go.
While others welcome the idea of an anchor replacement and already have ideas in place.
The direction of a replacement has not been confirmed but mall owner, Solomon Belay, previously said T.J. Maxx. is a possibility
Belay also said he wanted to hear from the community as to what they would like to see in the place of J.C. Penney.
The closure could take a few more months but as of now they do not have an exact date.
