Intergovernmental Council Meeting

Earlier tonight at Alpena Community College the Alpena City Council, Alpena County Board, and Township Supervisors met in a special Intergovernmental Session.

The purpose of the Intergovernmenta

l Council is to promote communication, understanding, and cooperation among the township, county, and the city for the good of the community.

Tonight’s conversation centered around website design for all three groups.

Alpena County is looking to move towards a more uniform website design among the three entities, that will simplify the experience for visitors.

Each group also presented reports on their recent activities.

The city spoke in regards to two-way street changes, and the new dog park among other items – and for the county, District Two Commissioner Robert Adrian provided an update on the new airport terminal.

According to Adrian the FAA has approved and committed nearly $1 million dollars towards the new airport terminal design.

Adrian believes the entire project will take 3-5 years to complete, costing roughly $12 to $16 million dollars, a majority of which is funded by the FAA.
