LANSING, Mich. — The House Oversight Committee passed a resolution this morning urging Governor Whitmer and the Department of Health and Human Services to lift the suspension on high school sports.

The resolution passed through the Oversight Committee by a 6-3 vote. Currently, contact sports in high schools are not allowed to practice due to COVID-19 restrictions. Right now, they would be forced to stay sidelined until Feb. 21. Governor Whitmer is expected to speak today regarding high school athletes, as her administration has received criticism from athletes and parents for this decision.

WBKB will have updates as this story progresses.
