Hillman serves Oscoda first conference lost

The Hillman Tigers take down Oscoda 3-1, handing the Owls their first conference loss. (October 11, 2018)

 

Hillman (October 11, 2018) — The Hillman Tigers seeked revenge against the Oscoda Owls volleyball squad after losing to the blue and white the previous weekend in a tournament. This time the Owls flew north without their setter and defender who were out due to injuries.

The Tigers took down the Owls in set one 25-23 and used that confidence going into set two. Senior Anna Callender left her mark in the second, finishing the night with 10 kills. Hillman ended set two in fashion 25-16.

Oscoda was not going without a fight. That’s where Kiah Holmes took flight. She contributed 12 kills and slammed the final of the set, helping the Owls win 25-21.

The fourth set was a total team effort for Hillman as the Tigers took down Oscoda 25-22, winning the game 3-1. The orange and white gave the Owls their first loss in the North Star League conference.

Hillman’s Brooke Jones led the team with 11 kills, 37 digs, and 4 aces and Alison Samp contributed 15 assists. Emilee Noffze and Ricki Steinke saved 25 digs.

Hillman is now (12-5-4) and (3-3-4) in the conference. Oscoda’s next conference match-up is Tuesday, October 16 at home against Rogers City.
