HARRISVILLE, Mich. — Business owners in Harrisville are still voicing their concerns about the impact the construction in the spring of 2021 will have on their businesses.
The Alcona Chamber of Commerce met with a representative from MDOT to discuss plans of action for local businesses during construction in the spring. Business owner and Chamber Secretary, Monica Spears, said local businesses are already hurting because of the pandemic and she fears construction will make things worse.
According to Spears, the MDOT representative informed the chamber of plans to reduce financial strain on local businesses.
Spears said even with signage indicating that shops and restaurants will be open, she feels people will try and avoid the construction area. Spears added that she understands the construction needs to take place but, wishes they would move it to the fall of 2021.
