Alpena- The Habitat for Humanity ReStore has found their artist to help beautify part of their storefront. Local artist Chad Joseph Szatkowski will combine two of his entry designs from the mural competition. ReStore Manager Nichole Keyes played a pivotal role in helping select the next artist. For Keyes, Szatkowski was an easy decision.

“It brings to life to the building itself which has been sitting here old and grey for years and so to see that beautiful vibrancy of colors mixed with how he interpreted of what Habitat means to him and the community, bringing groups of people together, arms that are holding each other together, lifting each other up” said Keyes.

Habitat for Humanity allowed artist from all over Northeast Michigan to submit drawings with the theme of Habitat’s core values. The mural will be installed on a 14′ by 17′ canvas that will be visible to folks walking on Chisholm St.

Preparation of the wall begins once the snow melts. Szatkowski is still working on some final renderings. The project is expected to be completed by Fall.
