Gov. Whitmer announces goal for new education programs

LANSING, Mich. – Governor Whitmer visited Mott Community College in Flint Wednesday to highlight the state’s new education programs.

The Michigan Reconnect and Future for Frontliners programs help put people on a path to pursue a degree or skills certificate at a local in-district community college.

More than 8,500 Michiganders have been accepted into the programs and 15 thousand are currently enrolled in classes.

Governor Whitmer’s goal is to get 60 percent of eligible Michigan residents to earn a post-secondary degree or certificate by 2030.
