Genova extends winning streak to 11
The Alpena Wildcats hosted a league meet, where they welcomed Gaylord and Cadillac in a Big North Conference showdown. As a team, the Wildcats dropped both of their matches, losing to Cadillac (57-23) and Gaylord (62-9).
Despite the Wildcats dropping both matches, Jeremiah Bullis (140) and Declan Genova (145) had themselves a night as they won both of their matches. With a pair of wins from Genova, he remains unbeaten on the season as he extends his streak to 11 wins. For Declan’s last home meet, he made the most of it Wednesday night.
“I took this meet a little more personal than I would in any other meet,” said Genova. “I think I competed pretty well. It may have not been my best, but I’ll take it.”
The Wildcats return to action this Saturday where they will head to Tawas to compete in a non-league meet.
