Rockport is a dark sky preserve, it includes little to no artificial light, lights that are there have shields to limit light pollution, and any new construction takes into account lighting in order to preserve these magnificent night skies.
An event will be held on Saturday October 21 from 7 to midnight. Watch the stars set and then observe through telescopes.
Members of the Sunset Astronomical Society are coming up from Bay City. They are coming, literally, because of the amazing dark skies that we have. They’ll be setting up telescopes too for the public.
The event is supported by, Friends of Rockport and Michigan DNR.
