Freeze Warning in effect early Friday; Freeze likely again early Saturday

The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning for nearly all of Northeast Michigan, except Iosco County, from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Friday. In the areas shaded in purple, temperatures will drop to or below the freezing mark except at the immediate Lake Huron shoreline. Colder temperatures are expected early Saturday.

Lows overnight will drop to about 35 degrees in Alpena, 34 degrees in Mio, Mich. and 38 degrees in Oscoda, Mich. High pressure originating from central Canada giving mostly clear skies and light winds are a perfect combination for chilly nights.

Friday: Mostly sunny. Predawn temperatures will be in the middle 30s. Temperatures will rise to the upper 40s in the late-morning. Afternoon highs will be close to 56 degrees. Early-evening temperatures will be around 50 degrees.

Saturday: Mostly sunny and very cold early. Temperatures will start close to 30 degrees predawn. Late-morning temperatures will reach the middle 40s. Afternoon highs will get up to about 60 degrees. Early-evening temperatures will be in the lower 50s.

Sunday: Mostly sunny and starting to get warmer. Early-morning temperatures will be in the middle 30s. Late-morning temperatures will get close to 50 degrees. Afternoon highs will be near 64 degrees. Early-evening temperatures will be in the upper 50s.

Temperatures will go on a warming trend beginning this weekend. Once winds increase out of the south Sunday, temperatures will climb to the middle 60s. Highs will reach the upper 60s Monday, then get up to the middle 70s Tuesday.
