OSCODA, MI – As the WBKB Sports team continues traveling around the North Star League to get a sneak peak into how coaches and players are preparing for the upcoming football season.

Coming off a 6-3 record last season, the Oscoda Owls are striving to compete even better than last year. As the young team of players suited up for practice, they look to coaches and seniors to lead them to success. Wide receiver, Damon Burrows, is someone who underclassmen look to for inspiration. “They might be young,” said Burrows. “They’re going to play more and get stronger.”

Head coach, Mark Whitley, is sticking with the methods he knows best. “The winning tradition that we’ve had here is motivation enough,” said Whitley. “We keep motivated by the success on-and-off the field.”

The Owls football program has one goal in their minds for the 2022 season. “Our number one goal is to win the league,” said Whitley. “We want to make some noise in the playoffs.”

As a playoff appearance lingers in their minds, the Owls continue to prepare for the coming season. The Oscoda Owls will face off against the Houghton Lake Bobcats on August 25th.
