Fog possible early Wednesday and getting warm again

High temperatures today reached 79 degrees in Alpena, 78 degrees in Traverse City, Mich. and 77 degrees in Grand Rapids, Mich. Similar warmth is expected tomorrow. Then cooler temperatures will move in Thursday.

Now that fall has begun, colors are changing on the trees throughout Northeast Michigan. So far low amounts of color change have been noticed. Peak color changes are expected in early October. The last of the bright colors will likely be seen in middle/late October.

Hurricane Teddy has become post-tropical, meaning it’s no longer showing the typical characteristics of a tropical system. However, it still has hurricane-strength winds and it’s dumping heavy rain onto the Canadian Maritime provinces. It will continue heading nearly due north and make landfall in Nova Scotia (Canada) Wednesday morning.

Wednesday: Early fog possible, then mostly sunny. Predawn temperatures will start near 49 degrees. Temperatures will rise to the lower 60s in the late-morning. Afternoon highs will reach about 78 degrees. Early-evening temperatures will be in the upper 60s.

Thursday: Chance of spotty showers in the morning and afternoon. Early-morning temperatures will be in the lower 50s. Late-morning temperatures will be in the lower 60s. Afternoon highs will get close to 70 degrees. Early-evening temperatures will be around the middle 60s.

Friday: Partly cloudy, dry all day. Early-morning temperatures will be in the lower 50s. Late-morning temperatures will climb to the middle 60s. Afternoon highs will be near 77 degrees. Early-evening temperatures will be in the lower 70s.
