Flags for Veterans

Many have sacrificed their lives to fight for our country, and have even died while doing so. That’s why the community of Alpena plans to honor our fallen veterans.

Flags will be placed on the graves of those who have died fighting for our country. The flags will be placed throughout Evergreen Cemetery, but in order to make this a success, much help is needed.

Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to be at Evergreen Cemetery’s maintenance garage on Washington Avenue by 9 o’clock sharp on Saturday morning. A tall bucket to carry the flags in would be handy, along with a pair of pliers and a screwdriver if you have it.

Placing of the flags is expected to take about three hours.

The event will take place regardless of weather conditions, so volunteers should dress accordingly.
