ALPENA, Mich. — Edward Jones Financial Advisor Pamela Kirchoff spoke with WBKB11 reporters about financial advice heading into the new year.

After a tough year financially, Kirchoff advises investors to “stay the course,” regarding volatility in the stock market. Saving your stimulus money, avoiding panic in the stock market, and making sure you are prepared for an emergency are several ways you can prepare for a better year financially in 2021.

“I think everybody is anxious to put 2020 in the rearview mirror,” Kirchoff said. “But the virus isn’t going to go away overnight.”

Kirchoff explained that those who pulled their money out of the market might not want to spend too much time on the sideline, as the market is still growing.

“The market tends to look forward,” Kirchoff said. “Because there was a virus and they anticipated a vaccine, the market did rebound.”
