Farmers’ Market to add kids’ booth

ALPENA, Mich.– The Alpena Farmers’ Market has some big things in store for kids this summer.

This year marks the first run of their “Market Sprouts” program, in which kids get to sell their own produce.

The market also has a scavenger hunt in the works. Kids get to search for certain produce items, then go back to the starting point to receive a token for fresh food.

Director J.B. Cook said this isn’t the first time the Market’s reached out to kids.

“We’ve done kids’ programs throughout the years. We’ve done [a] kids’ day. We’ll go into the schools and do a bunch of different things. But this is kind of a formalized program.”

Cook said he’ll be providing more details at the upcoming vendor meeting on April 29.
