Family of assault victim speaks out about wanted fugitive

GENESEE COUNTY, Mich. — Family members of an assault victim are pleading for the public’s help in finding a dangerous fugitive with ties to Alcona County.

Nathaniel Jermaine Ballard is wanted in connection to a stabbing in Genesee County on April 13. Ballard allegedly stabbed a victim 9 times after a disagreement.

“He was dating my cousin, they have a son together,” Jennifer Marko told WBKB. “He was drinking, and my cousin was telling him that was enough on the alcohol. He got up, jumped over the bed and started stabbing her. He stabbed her nine times.”

Jennifer’s cousin, Andria Varner, is expected to recover. Ballard was found guilty and later posted bond for domestic violence charges from a case against Varner in 2019. The family has a GoFundMe available for Andria. You can make donations here. Jennifer believes bond should have been revoked, and that would have kept her cousin safe.

Officials say Ballard is armed and dangerous. Jennifer urges community members to be on the lookout, but not to approach.
