Family Fun Day a hit for kids on spring break
Alpena-Â Smiles filled Alpena High School on Tuesday as families enjoyed another year of Family Fun Day. Kids could enjoy a “staycation” while on spring break and get out of the house to have some fun.
“They wouldn’t know what to do on spring break. They look forward to it every year” said Angela Belanger, with a child in hand.
The Alpena Optimist Club provides the fun for kids each year. The club looks to provide positive activities for youth and the community. The members are “optimist” who aim to inspire children to have a good outlook on life.
“We have 53 volunteers, I think to pull this off this year. It’s a big event,” said Club Member Bud Pfeifer.
Many local organizations set up interactive booths for kids to explore and learn. The focus of the fun could be found in the gym with bubble soccer, different arts and crafts, swimming, and plenty of other fun activities for children. Hot dogs and pop was provided as fuel for the kids to be kids.
