Extended unemployment benefits ending

LANSING, Mich. — The U.S. Department of Labor notified the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency that the states extended benefits program will end  the week of April 17.

When Michigan’s unemployment rate averages 6.5 percent or higher, extended benefits are available.

UIA Acting Director Liza Estlund Olson said claimants who were on the extended benefits program will likely receive other federal assistance.  Other federal programs such as Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) or Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) will be available.
