Documentary about Ernest Hemingway’s life in Northern Michigan

ALPENA, Mich. — A new Ken Burns and Lynn Novick documentary focuses on a time in Ernest Hemingway’s life that is rarely talked about.

Television Producer Matthew Ozanich said when most people think of Hemingway they think of the man with the big white beard, white hair, and the fisherman but Ozanich describes Ernie who vacationed with his family in Northern Michigan.

Ozanich said Hemingway moved to Paris in 1919 and while there, he wrote about the beauty of Northern Michigan.

The documentary will include voice actors such as Jeff Daniels as Hemingway, Meryl Streep, Mary Louise Parker, Patricia Clarkson, and Keri Russell as his four wives.

Hemingway in Michigan will be a live streamed event Wednesday March 31, at 6 p.m.  The three-part six-hour documentary series will premiere on central and northern Michigan PBS affiliate, WCMU Public Media April 5 at 8 p.m.
