Ellis’ golfing career will take its next swing at Olivet

ALPENA, Mich. —  When it comes to golf, Kennedy Ellis puts in a lot of work into the sport. When there’s no snow on the ground, she’s usually out on a golf course mastering her craft. One of her biggest goals in life is to play college golf. On Thursday, she made that happen. The Alpena native signed her National Letter of Intent to golf at Olivet College next season.

“This day means everything to me,” said Ellis. “From the second I picked up a golf club, I knew I wanted to continue playing this for the rest of my life. My goal from day one was college golf and here I am.”

It’s safe to say 2019 and 2020 were Kennedy’s best seasons playing for the Wildcats. Not only she earned all-conference (Big North Conference) honors in both seasons, but she went down to East Lansing to play in the MHSAA state finals.

In the classroom, Ellis plans on studying Environmental Studies and Chemistry. She also wants to pursue a Ph.D. in Turfgrass Science.
