Ella White Elementary on Full Lockdown

Buildings on Lockdown.

At the recommendation of law enforcement, Ella White Elementary is under a full lockdown at this time.  It was reported to law enforcement that an individual who was believed to have a weapon was in the vicinity of Ella White School.  Additionally, Thunder Bay Junior High School and Alpena High School are on a soft lockdown, also at the recommendation of law enforcement.

All of the doors are locked at all Alpena Public Schools buildings at this time.  This includes Besser elementary, Hinks Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, Sanborn Elementary, Wilson Elementary and ACES Academy.

While the full lockdown is in place, no one will be allowed to enter or exit the building without approval.  When we have received notification from law enforcement, parents will be notified immediately and can pick up their children if they choose.

The safety of students and staff remains our priority, and we are continuing to work with law enforcement.

Once we have more information or are given the all clear, parents will be notified immediately.
