Drying out tomorrow; Heating up this weekend

Scattered rain and thunderstorms have moved into Northeast Michigan ahead of a cold front, producing frequent lightning and occasionally heavy downpours. After the cold front moves to our east, a refreshing change is on the way tomorrow.

High temperatures today reached 80 degrees in Alpena before the thunderstorms moved in, and the middle to upper 70s elsewhere in Northeast Michigan. Similar afternoon temperatures are expected tomorrow but with drier skies.

Tomorrow morning, temperatures will be around the 60 degree mark in the early morning with a mix of sun and clouds. Skies will gradually become mostly sunny by late in the day as highs warm up to the upper 70s inland and lower 70s at the shoreline.

Temperatures will warm up to 86 degrees on Saturday, then near 90 degrees on Sunday with dry conditions. High temperatures on Monday should reach the mid-80s before a brief change to cooler afternoon temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday.

For tomorrow, skies will become increasingly sunny, as afternoon highs warm into the upper 70s. Friday night and early Saturday will feel comfortable as low temperatures cool to the upper 50s. The heat cranks up on Sunday with early-morning lows in the mid-60s and afternoon temperatures reaching close to the 90 degree mark. The next chance for scattered showers will move in Monday — for the rest of Northeast Michigan’s weather forecast, watch the latest weather video by clicking the weather tab at the top of the page.
