Dry tomorrow; Becoming cold Friday night; Chance of snow Saturday

Today started with sunshine in the morning, then skies clouded over in the afternoon, and some light snow moved in during the evening. Light winds out of the south about 5-10 mph helped temperatures reach highs in the mid-20s earlier today.

An area of light snow is currently moving through Northern Michigan this evening, after which, winds will shift out of the northwest. After the snow clears to the east later tonight, dry weather is expected all day tomorrow. By tomorrow night, we will start to see (and feel) much colder temperatures moving into our area.

Tomorrow morning will start with temperatures around 15 degrees, but you will want to bundle up for wind chill values around 5. Highs in the afternoon will reach the lower 20s with mostly cloudy skies. In the evening, temperatures will drop to around 10 degrees, and wind chill values will drop below 0.

From tomorrow, temperatures will plunge going into the weekend. A breeze out of the northeast on Saturday and out of the north on Sunday will keep supplying colder air into Northern Michigan. Highs will reach only 11 degrees on Saturday, and 6 degrees Sunday afternoon. Highs will then climb into the teens on Monday, then once again reach the lower 20s on Tuesday.

Dry weather will move in after midnight, lasting through all of Friday. Afternoon temperatures will reach about 22 degrees on Friday. On Saturday, a storm system will be moving from the Plains to the Northeast. Northeast Michigan will be on the northern edge of this storm system — the farther south you are, the higher the chance of snow will be — Tawas City has a higher chance of snow on Saturday than Rogers City. Temperatures will become very cold this weekend, dropping below 0 degrees early Sunday morning, and likely not climbing out of the single digits Sunday afternoon.
