Donations are being accepted for annual fireworks display

ALPENA, Mich – The City of Alpena and Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce hope to move forward with the Fourth of July fireworks display

but the decision is contingent upon social distancing guidelines and funding.

Alpena’s annual fireworks display is 100% funded by community donations.

With many local businesses and communities struggling because of COVID–19, the chamber and the city of Alpena are apprehensive about asking for donations.

They are, however, encouraging the community to patronize or donate to assist local businesses.

The Chamber of Commerce is accepting donations for the fireworks display and says if they are unable to meet the funding goal, the money will be put toward the 2021 fireworks show.

The donation deadline is May 28.
