DHD4 asks for the communities patience for COVID-19 vaccines

ALPENA, Mich. — District Health Department No. 4 is asking for the communities’ patience  as they continue to administer the COVID–19 vaccine.  The department said they are working with a limited supply of the vaccine.

As of this morning, the department reported close to 8,000 people pre–registered to receive their shots.  4,508 vaccines have been given to date and last week they attempted to order over 1,900 doses for this week’s clinics.

Last week the department was notified that they would only be receiving 500 doses and as a result, they had to cancel three vaccination clinics planned for this week.

Also, Wednesday, MidMichigan Health announced easing its visitor restrictions which began today.  Visiting hours for medical center impatient units will be daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.  Behavioral health units will be daily from 6 to 8 p.m. and visitors of patients in specialized care units are advised to check with the nurse’s station.
