Denbleyker and Smith win, Wildcats fall to Vikings in tennis

Alpena sophomore Gwyn DenBleyker prepares to serve against Cadillac.

Alpena, Mich — Alpena’s tennis team moved indoors for their game against the Cadillac Vikings Thursday afternoon. It was the Wildcat’s second conference match this season and they looked to get back on track after getting swept by Petoskey.

Gwyn Denbleyker and Brynna Smith were able to win the singles 1 and singles 2 games, respectively. The rest of the team did not have the same success as the Wildcats fell 6-2 overall.

The loss drops Alpena to 2-2 overall, with an 0-2 Big North Conference record. The Wildcats are back in action on Monday when they face Bay City All Saints at Delta College. Their next conference game is April 23rd at Traverse City Central. Alpena won’t be back home until April 30th when they host Traverse City West.
