ALPENA, Mich.— The grace period for Michiganders to update their driver’s licenses is almost up. Earlier this year, Governor Whitmer extended the deadline for license and registration renewal to the end of September due to COVID–19.
Michiganders have until September 30 to renew not only their driver’s licenses, but also state ID cards and vehicle registrations. If patrons do not comply by this date, they are subjected to late fees and possible ticket if pulled over.
Residents can also renew their licenses online or by mail if the license does not require a new photo. For drivers who need a new photo will be required to schedule an appointment with the Secretary of State at www.michigan.gov/SOS
